Blog 1 My First definition

So, for this week I went through the Grasshopper tutorials that were assigned and created this shape! It was really interesting to play with adding points and adjusting arcs based on sliders, and I thought the introduction of using a gradient slider to use parameters to change hues was really exciting. But, when doing my riff on these skills I decided to play with a lot of what we learned in class along with experimenting with some tools that I thought would work similarly to those introduced based on the tools I knew rhino had available. I ended up taking the X, Y and Z coordinate sliders from our in person tutorial and plugging them into a circle object and added an additional slider for the radius. I stacked circles with specific Z coordinates that would go up in a cylindrical shape and used the loft tool introduced in the tutorial to connect these into a vessel that was easily editable using the slider tools. Surface Design

So this project was way too much fun for me, I don't have many classes where I get to do 2D work so I was really excited to play with this!! To start with I found a variety of surface design examples as shown below: After going through those I came up with the above sketch. I pulled the eye motif from the a couple of places but decided on the use of really circular target like pupils from the orange circle pattern. I then repeated this pattern in the background. I also took the line work from the conditioner bottle and the wispy smoke on the graffiti on the patio walls. I used the hands from the pattern on my pants. I knew I needed to fill in more space so I added the overlapping stripes as a place holder but I knew that wasn't going to be the final pattern in that area. Now looking back through my screenshots I must have just gotten really really into it because I forgot to take pictures of the line process but I primarily used circles and the polyline to outline my sketch, t

Blog 2 Animation

So for this assignment I was interested in playing with using points to control movement. My first idea was to play with squiggly lines that would overlap and create some sort of interesting animation. I'll apologize about this throughout the blog, but with this piece I just got really in the zone and forgot to take screenshots of my progress so I've tried to recreate them in some images, but I'm sorry if they aren't 100% accurate to the process!! So I started with making points on the plane that made somewhat of a staircase pattern, and input that into the X and Y values of the points, then have the slider range to a point with a difference of about 40 and added an to see what would happen. I also added in a -1 multiplier And this is where I have to apologize because I got caught up in what I was doing and forgot to take screen shots of the initial results, but I ended up with a sideways zigzag.
